The 303Labs Camp Network
303labs-camp: The Solarpunk Living Lab

303labs-camp is a student-run, non-profit, back-to-nature camping experience designed to foster community, sustainability, and hands-on learning outside of traditional boundaries.
We are building a "Living Lab" where like-minded individuals can gather to promote SolarPunk as a sustainable, actionable future way of life. Everyone is welcome—this is a space to step outside your primary field and learn skills from other disciplines in a supportive, hands-on environment.
🍃 Core Pillars
- Green & Self-Sustainable: Fully off-grid operations utilizing renewable energy (solar & wind), biofuels, and circular waste systems.
- Earthship Biotecture: Practical workshops where we build sustainable architecture. Our structures are constructed from upcycled materials—like colored glass bottles, reused windows, and old tires packed with earth for thermal mass.
- Back to Nature: Reconnecting with the environment to support mental wellbeing, digital detox, and ecological harmony.
- Social & Team Building: Inter-disciplinary workshops and social events to build a strong community.
- P2P Mesh Networking: Utilizing a decentralized system where individual devices (nodes) connect directly with each other to route data, eliminating the need for central routers, cellular towers, or internet access.
🤝 The Inter-disciplinary "Skill Swap"
The camp acts as a bridge between different paths:
- Computing & Engineering: Lead workshops on IoT sensors, renewable energy grids, and sustainable construction.
- Psychology & Health: Lead sessions on mental wellbeing, digital detox strategies, and group dynamics.
- Business & Law: Manage the non-profit organizational model, ethical governance, and community outreach.
- Humanities: Document the project through storytelling, historical research, and social impact analysis.
⚡ Off-Grid Energy & Infrastructure
To truly live the SolarPunk ethos, 303labs-camp is powered by hybrid renewable energy systems. We don't just use these technologies; we build, monitor, and optimize them to maximize efficiency:
- Solar Power: Photovoltaic arrays paired with DIY battery banks provide the baseline power for our equipment, lighting, and sensor networks.
- Wind Power: Custom-built micro-turbines capture the breeze, ensuring power generation continues even when the sun goes down or during overcast days.
- Hydro / Water Power: Utilizing local water flow with pico-hydro generators to create a constant, reliable trickle-charge for our critical infrastructure.
🛠️ What Else Do We Get Up To?
Beyond coding and networking, the camp is a playground for experimental engineering and sustainable living:
- Bio-Hacking & Agriculture: Setting up automated irrigation systems, testing soil sensors, and experimenting with accelerated composting.
- Radio & Hardware Tinkering: Setting up HAM radios, software-defined radio (SDR) antennas, and building custom environmental monitors.
- Survival & Foraging: Learning traditional off-grid survival skills, local plant identification, and sustainable foraging practices.
- Stargazing & Digital Detox: Unplugging from the grid to appreciate the natural world, complete with telescope sessions and fireside discussions about the future of tech.
🌍 Social Impact & Youth Outreach
303labs-camp extends its mission to serve as a community hub for local youth, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds:
- Green Skills Bootcamps: Providing vocational training in sustainable technology and STEM.
- Nature Residentials: Fully funded camping experiences to support mental health and resilience.
- Pathway to Higher Education: A structured framework to inspire participants through hands-on success and mentorship.
- Community Food Forests: Utilizing agroforestry principles to provide sustainable, localized food production.
Join us in building a sustainable future where ethical hacking, ecological engineering, and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
